Our social workers provide bereavement services. This word refers to loss and encompasses the period after death. During this time grief is experienced and mourning occurs. The origins of this work come from the phrase “to rob,” and appropriately captures how we often feel after loss. Other common feelings include feeling outraged, betrayed, shocked, and deprived when a death or major loss occurs.
